Irwin Alexander Conroe (ICS3) was born 3/3/1899 in Philadelphia, PA. He married Frances Barden. She was born 5/3/1903. Irwin was Dean of Alfred University in Alfred, NY. He was also the Assistant Commissioner of Higher Education and Professional Education for the State Education Department. He also worked as Regional Director of Encyclopedia Americana for New York State. He once went to Rome to have audience with the Pope. He was also a Regional Vice President in the American Iris Society and distinguished himself by developing a black iris. He was also President of the Empire State Iris Society. He was involved with the Americana Corporation. He died 10/17/1988. Frances currently lives in Saratoga Springs, NY.
