THE BOYD-SHERMAN FAMILY
The information on this page was last updated 8/8/2001

Isaac "Ike" Scott Boyd, Jr. (IIB3) was born 10/12/1897. He went to live for a time in Canada with his uncle's family. During this time he enlisted with the Canadian Army and served in WWI. He married Alice May Sherman (ICS5). She was born 9/3/1905. He was involved with the Bullock Sanderson Post No. 136 AL and the Merion Fire Co. In December of 1930, Isaac was driving a fire truck to a fire and swerved to avoid hitting a child. He died 12/31/1930 and his funeral was from his late residence in Ardmore, PA. He was buried at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church Cemetery in Ardmore. After Ike's death, Alice stayed in Philadelphia a few years and then returned to her parents' farm in Elizaville, NY. She last resided at Elizabeth Col Co. in New York, NY. She died 1/20/1991 in Elizaville and was buried there. Every year, since his death, the Ardmore Fire Company holds an Annual Memorial Service for him at 1:00PM on January 1st. As of today, he was the only fireman from the Ardmore Fire Company killed in the line of duty. It was because of his death and the gathering for his funeral back in 1930 that the Irwin Family decided to have an Annual Reunion on the Saturday before Labor Day.
