Edwin Boyd (IIB8) was born 2/24/1909 in Ardmore, PA. He was named after his foster-brother Edwin White who died not too long before he was born. He attended Lower Merion Highschool and graduated from in 1928 and got a football scholarship to the University of Pennsylvania. When the Depression came along he lost his scholarship and ended up working for the Atlantic Richfield Co. of Philadelphia for the next eight years. He served with the 24th Tank Battalion, 13th Armored Division of the U.S. Army. He trained in Texas for what was going to be the Invasion of Japan. Instead the 13th Armored Division was sent to Germany at the time of the Battle of the Bulge. The Division distinguished themselves by going the deepest into enemy territory. Before leaving the Army Edwin earned himself two Battle Stars. In addition he also served in the African Middle Eastern Campaign. He and Ruth Isabelle Clarke were married 2/12/1939 at his brother's house in Springfield, PA. She was born 10/9/1915 in Ardmore. In 1953 Edwin was employed as a senior record clerk of the UAW office. He eventually got a job with the technical group of the Budd Co. where he worked until he retired in 1977. He was a member and elder of the Memorial Presbyterian Church in Wenonah, NJ. He died 5/6/2000 At Underwood Hospital in Woodbury, NJ. The burial and graveside service were held at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church Cemtery in Ardmore, PA. Ruth died 11/25/2002 in Oxford, PA. She was buried next to her husband.
