Peter John Powell (IT7a) was born Peter Alfred Harrison Powell on 7/2/1928 in Bryn Mawr, PA. He attended Ripon College in Ripon, WI and graduated 1950. He completed his priestly studies at the Nashotah House Seminary in Nashotah, WI in May of 1953. He was ordained to the Anglo Catholic priesthood 10/10/1953, and took John as his Ordination name. He and Virginia Lee Raisch were married 6/13/1953 at the Church of the Atonement in Chicago, IL. She was born 11/8/1928. Father Peter founded St. Augustine's Center for American Indians in May of 1961. He is currently Spiritual Director at St. Augustine's and also Research Associate at the D'Arcy McNickle Center for the History of the American Indian at The Newberry Library in Chicago. Father Pete and Virginia currently live in Chicago, IL.
