Carl Arthur Gustafson
(J1a2a) was born on 6/15/1896 in Philadelphia, PA. His boyhood was spent doing chores and helping his father by running mens suit into town. He was valedictorian of his graduating class at Palmer's Business College. He was also involved with the Bachelors Club. He and Gladys Mary Garside were married around 1918 or 1919 in Philadelphia. She was born 8/2/1899 in Philadelphia to Albert and Elizabeth (Milner) Garside. Carl and Gladys' first <|,"2">residence was in Wissinoming, Philadelphia. Their first and only child was born in 1920. Around 1925 they moved to 2080 Anchor St. in the Frankford Section of the city. Gladys became a member of the Sarah Dobson Lodge #7 of St. G.???? Within the year, Gladys was diagnosed with stomach cancer and died 1/28/1927. Her funeral was from her late residence. Further services were from St Stephen's PE Church, Wissahicken, PA. She was buried alongside her parents at Levrington Cemetery in Roxborough, Philadelphia. The death left Carl who was working a full time job and 6 year old Virginia without a mother. In order to help, Carl's sister, Pauline, came to live in his home. She would help care for the household as well as raise her niece. About 1929, Carl took employment with the Reyburn Tag Manufacturing Co. in Philadelphia as a clerk. He eventually became a proofreader for the company. During the Depression he was able to hold on to his job, but, Reyburn's kept diminishing his pay until he was finally earning 40% of what he had been previously. He also lost ownership to 2080 Anchor St., but continued to live their paying rent. During the next several years, during the course of the depression, Carl's house became the haven for alot of the family. Around 1938, Carl Arthur and his daughter Gladys Virginia moved to an apartment in Olney, Philadelphia. He and Elizabeth Brown were married 9/8/1946 or 1948. Carl's last residence was at 5921 N. 5th St., Philadelphia, PA. He died 6/10/1964 as a result of cancer. His funeral was 6/13/1964 from the BAM, Givnish Funeral Home in Philadelphia. His Requiem Mass was held at the Church of St. Helena in Philadelphia. He was buried next to his first wife in Levrington Cemetery.
Gladys "Virginia" Gustafson
(J1a2a1) was born 6/3/1920 in Philadelphia, PA. She and Tom Herbert Honold went on their first date to her senior prom on 12/4/1936. They were married 12/16/1941 in Alexandria, LA while Tom was stationed there with the US Army. Thomas was born Thomas Ashton Gamble on 6/1/1918 in Philadelphia, PA. His natural father died in the flu epidemic of 1918 when he was only three months old. Several years later his mother remarried and her second husband, Herbert Honold, legally adopted him. Virginia and Tom's first child was born in Philadelphia 2 days after D-Day while Tom was in Ireland with the troops. He did not get to see his firstborn son until he was 17 months old. By then, Tom came home wearing Captain's bars after five years' service starting as a Private. They eventually moved to Whitesboro, NY around 1962. Tom retired after managing a textile mill for many years. They currently live in Whitesboro.
Thomas Gerard Honold
(J1a2a1a) was born 6/8/1944 in Philadelphia, PA. He eventually left home and settled in Ft. Lauderdale, FL where he served as Director of Catholic Charities for over ten years. He was ordained 5/16/1987 as a Catholic Priest in the Miami Diocese.

(J1a2a1c) was born 3/30/1948 in Philadelphia, PA. He and Suzanne McEvoy were married 9/6/1969. Suzanne was born 4/7/1949. They currently live in Mercerville, NJ.

(J1a2a1d) was born 10/22/1952 in Philadelphia, PA. She and Donald Russell Putnam were married 11/10/1973. He was born 4/6/1949. Pat is currently a supervisor with Metropolitan Insurance. Don is a sales representative for a farm supply organization.
