Entry for July 7, 2006

Well, all the silkies have mated. Some of the males have happily ended their life span. I found that all the females do not lay eggs after mating. Some of them were 6 days old and no eggs. I have enough though and have started storing them for next year. Good thing that this town has cut the parks budget. I know they won't be pruning or spraying the trees near here for a long time.

The Itailan imports have done most of their spinning and what lovely cocoons they made. Almost an orange with rose highlights, and a lovely goldish rose color. Can't wait to start working with this silk. Will not let any of these emerge. As hybreds they most likely won't breed true. Maybe I will get eggs from Itlay next year and try more of them.

Started on the third ball of yarn. I only have two weeks to finish it. That is when the baby shower is. Maybe I can take it as a " work in progress". At least I finished the booties and headband.
