Victory over Eating Step ThreeVictory Over Eating
STEP THREE
Step three: Made the decision to consciously turn from the errors and sins of our past and invite Jesus to be Lord of our lives.
We have all tried to control our eating and our weight on our own. We have all failed. Now we will consciously turn our control of our lives over to Jesus and seek His will in our eating and all of our lives.
Psalm 85:2 You forgave the iniquity of your people and covered all their sins.
- If your sins are covered, how should you act differently?
- Does the physical appearance of your sins (your excess weight) make you feel that everyone is judging you- especially those who are not overweight?
- Is God less able to use you because of your appearance?
Most people who are overweight never look at themselves in a full length mirror. Buy a full length mirror and look at yourself everyday.
James 1:23-24 Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like a man who looks at his face in a mirror and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like.
- What is God's word saying to you?
- When do you take time to hear what He is saying to you?
- Why do we need to remember what we look like?
After we look in that mirror, we are not to become discouraged, but let the reality of our sin be uncovered before God, ask forgiveness THEN CHANGE IT!
Genesis 1:29 Then God said, "I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food."
- Did God mean for us to eat all the rich foods that we find so readily available today?
- Why do we feel that we are deprived if we don't eat rich foods?
