This is an animated drawing of what may actually be a butterfly. It could be one of the metalmarks. Moths and butterflies come from the same order called "Lepidoptera." Members of Lepidoptera differ from all other insects in having scales over all or most of their wings and often on the body as well. The order includes 75 families of moths and 5 families of butterflies. About 10,000 species are known in Northern America, of which only about 700 are butterflies.
