RAINBOW BRIDGE

Just this side of Heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.

There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.

The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing: they each miss someone very special, someone who was left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance.
His bright eyes are intent; his eager body begins to quiver.
Suddenly, he breaks from the group, flying over the green grass, faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again.

The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into those trusting eyes, so long gone from your life, but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross the Rainbow Bridge together...

TRIBUTE TO A DOG

THE ONE ABSOLUTELY UNSELFISH FRIEND THAT A MAN CAN HAVE IN THIS SELFISH WORLD, THE ONE THAT NEVER DESERTS HIM, THE ONE THAT NEVER PROVES UNGRATEFUL OR TREACHEROUS, IS HIS DOG. A MAN'S DOG STANDS BY HIM IN PROSPERITY AND IN POVERTY, IN HEALTH AND IN SICKNESS. HE WILL SLEEP ON THE COLD GROUND, WHERE THE WINTRY WINDS BLOW AND THE SNOW DRIVES FIERCELY, IF ONLY HE MAY BE NEAR HIS MASTER'S SIDE. HE WILL KISS THE HAND THAT HAS NO FOOD TO OFFER; HE WILL LICK THE WOUNDS AND SORES THAT COME IN ENCOUNTER WITH THE ROUGHNESS OF THE WORLD. HE GUARDS THE SLEEP OF HIS PAUPER MASTER AS IF HE WERE A PRINCE. WHEN ALL OTHER FRIENDS DESERT, HE REMAINS. WHEN RICHES TAKE WINGS AND REPUTATION FALLS TO PIECES, HE IS AS CONSTANT IN HIS LOVE AS THE SUN IN IT'S JOURNEY THRU THE HEAVENS.

ALONE AGAIN

I WISH SOMEONE WOULD TELL-ME
WHAT IT IS THAT I'VE DONE WRONG
WHY I HAVE TO STAY CHAINED UP AND
LEFT ALONE SO LONG.
THEY SEEMED SO GLAD TO HAVE ME
WHEN I CAME HERE AS A PUP
THERE WERE SO MANY THINGS WE'D DO
WHILE I WAS GROWING UP.
THEY COULDN'T WAIT TO TRAIN ME AS A
COMPANION AND FRIEND
AND TOLD ME HOW THEY'D NEVER FEAR
BEING LEFT ALONE AGAIN.
THE CHILDREN SAID THEY'D FEED ME
AND BRUSH ME EVERY DAY
THEY'D PLAY WITH ME AND WALK ME
IF I COULD ONLY STAY.
BUT NOW THE FAMILY "HASN'T TIME"
THEY OFTEN SAY I SHED
THEY DO NOT WANT ME IN THE HOUSE
NOT EVEN TO BE FED.
THE CHILDREN NEVER WALK ME
THEY ALWAYS SAY "NOT NOW!"
I WISH THAT I COULD PLEASE THEM
WON'T SOMEONE TELL ME HOW?
ALL I HAD,YOU SEE,WAS LOVE
I WISH THEY WOULD EXPLAIN
WHY THEY SAID THEY WANTED ME,
THEN LEFT ME ON A CHAIN
