These are some notes of camping trips I've done as a scout master.

The first campout I did was to Green Valley near Iron Mountain. The realy scout master didn't show up so I just took the troop up to the cleavland national forest and picked a campground. The scout master joined us latter. That night for dinner I made my first peach cobbler in a dutch oven. My scout master had made one when I was a scout so I decided I needed to learn how. The next morning we hiked about 5 miles to Casa Pichacho at the base of Iron mountain. What a gruling hike. The boys were always "taking breaks" and they drank all their water in the first mile. When we arrived they were all tired and ready to go home. I bet if they had thrown less rocks and pine cones and carried less stick, they would have had more energy. We saw a lot of horses on the trail, and the trail seemed to be much better for horses since the bushes overgrew the trail a human level.

I went to summer camp for the week with my son. He was not quite 11 yet, but had earned his arrow of light. The bishop gave him special permission to attend (probable to get me to go and help be a leader). Camp Emmerson was pretty fun. Our camp site was up on the hill so I lost quite a bit of weight hicking up and down three times a day. I also did the mile swim that year for the first time.
