A COLLORAFFI MYSTERY STORY

The Colloraffi Famiglia of Udine, Italia

Maria, Rosario
Tiziano and Umberto Colloraffi

They are looking for their branch of our Colloraffi famiglia!

After writing to all of the family members that I could find, in 1998, I received the following letter, which is a translation of the Italian:

"Dear Janice,

The 10th of March I received your letter with great surprise and even though I don't know you, I read your letter and happily concluded that you are part of the Colloraffi family in the United States and also that we have common ancestors.
I am 37 years old and married for 13 years to a woman named Maria. I have two sons, Of whom the oldest ,Tiziano , is 12 and the smallest, Umberto, is only 7 years old.

I am sorry that I can't give you more information about my family, but I do know that my mother left my father when I was still very little.
My father's name was Salvatore. He married my mother Jole, when he worked in the theater in the same company as my grandfather. It seems to me they were married about five years, but without much harmony and my mother felt she had to leave Salvatore, even though she was pregnant again.
I don't know much about my father and am very sorry that no one can tell me anything about him, but your letter has revived great interest to look into this and I think I can do research that will yield some results.

One thing certain that I know about Salvatore is that he died when I was still an adolescent but I don't know where he was born or where he is buried.
I would be very grateful for any information you can give me on these matters, and I gladly pledge in turn to send you any new information I can turn up.
I greatly want to learn more about our Colloraffi family - also for the sake of my sons.
Best regards also from my wife and I hope to hear from you again soon.

Rosario Colloraffi."

We need help in solving this Colloraffi mystery and giving Rosario assistance in finding his branch of the family. I mailed him more information, about our family, and the family tree and also wrote to other branches of our family thinking that they may know more about his father, Salvatore - but, after three years, neither Rosario nor I have more information. I have placed him with my branch of the family only due to the spelling of his name, and the fact that his parents - Salvatore Colloraffi and Jole LoMonaco were born in Sant' Agata Di Militello and married there. Any information would be greatly appreciated! He is a fine young man and we gladly claim him and his family as part of our small Colloraffi Famiglia.
