This letter from Josephine Ferech written in June, 1999, and translated by her grand daughter, Gaelle Collorafi, tells us a little about the life of this beautiful woman. She also mailed us some wonderful pictures of her husband's family, including photos of her husband Rosario's grandfather, who migrated from Patti Sicily to Sousse, Tunisia, in the early 1900's, her husband, Rosario and his sisters, her husband's parents, and her wedding photograph.

"Dear Family,
      My name is Josephine Collorafi because I married Rosaire (or Rosario) Collorafi. I have 4 children: Claudia Dumas, she is 60 years old and has 3 children (Paul, Yvan, Laurence). Laurence Dumas has 2 children: Quentin and Florine. Yvan has 1 child - Aurelie. They live in the south of France. Eugene Collorafi is 59 years old and has 3 children: Agnes, Gaelle and Emmanuel. They live in Soily /Seine, France.
      Rita Cupani is 57 years old. She has 3 children: Patrick (he has 2 children), Philipe (he has 2 children) and Guillaume. They live in Canada. Bernard is 54 years old. He has 2 children. Sebastien and Olivier. They live in the south of France. Currently Sebastien is in Spain working.
      I am a grandmother of 11 little children and great grandmother of 7 little-little children (4 in Canada and 3 in France). I am very proud of that. I am 85 years old.
      I knew my huband's grandfather, Rosario. He lived with his son Calogero. I have the pictures of my husband's family. I had more but because of the war, we lost many things, even the address of the Avallone cousins. Rosario used to communicate a lot with them. The Avallone family must have the pictures of my wedding and my daughter, Claudia Collorafi, when she was 10 months old. We all lived in Sousse, Tunisia, except Marie Collorafi. She was the neighbor of the Uncle Soltare, who had two boys I knew. The grandfather (the elder Rosario from Patti) had a son Eugene (Euginio Collorafi) who was killed during the war. My son is also called Eugene. We promised to give him this first name before the grandfather died...I live in Nimes (20 km from Claudia, my daughter). . . Love, Josephine Collorafi"

13. MARIE3 COLLORAFI (CARMELA2 GALEA, MARIE-ANN1 BELTRANO) was born April 20, 1908 in Sousse, Tunisia. She married GIUSEPPE COLLORAFI 1925 in Sousse, Tunisia, son of GIUSEPPE COLLORAFI and FEBRONIA AMATO. He was born January 11, 1890 in Patti, Sicily, and died January 30, 1959 in Sousse, Tunisia.

Notes for MARIE COLLORAFI:
Rita Collorafi Destenay, who was born in Sousse, Tunisia and then moved with her family to France when France gave the colony back to the native people, told us this beautiful love story of her parents - Giuseppe Collorafi and Marie Collorafi. They were married in 1925.

"I have often heard my mother tell this true story. When she was born, my father was already 18 years old and, like all the cousins, they saw each other from time to time. My father liked very much to play with this baby (my mother), but when she was about five, she used to hide when my dad came around, as she didn't like this particular cousin. Time passed, and when she was 16, my father asked for her hand in marriage at a time when young women had no say in the matter, and I am sure my mother eventually changed her opinion of my father, for he was a handsome man. This didn't prevent the couple from loving each other, from having many children, and from respecting each other to the end. I find this to be a beautiful lesson in love, in spite of the differences." Rita Collorafi Destenay - France - July, 1999.

Notes for GIUSEPPE COLLORAFI:
Giuseppe is remembered by his youngest daughter, Rita, as being a very honest man. He liked to smoke cigars.
