She married WILLIAM HUTCHINSON May 01, 1854 in McGillivray Township, Ontario, son of HUTCHINSON and "POLLY" WILLIS. He was born August 16, 1824 in England, and died December 30, 1916 in McGillivray Twp., ON.

McGillivray Township Remembers 1842 - 1992 . On page 182 they quote from the "late Mr. Wilbert Young of Corbett who, in his writings Early History of North Middlesex," who recounts, " when William Hutchinson and Ann McPherson decided to get married early in 1850,(this should be 1854bd) their honeymoon trip consisted of a walk from the home of the bridegroom, Lot 4 Conc. 26 to the Salem Church at Lot 4 Con. 18 ... they were married by what is known as a travelling preacher, who rode on horseback from one place to another .. and then it was a pleasure for Mr. and Mrs. Hutchinson to walk the 15 miles back to the bridegroom's home, over a road little better than a trail through the bush."

He married SARAH MARIA BROPHEY November 22, 1882 in McGillivray Twp., Ontario. She was born 1856 in McGillivray Township, Ontario, and died 1943 in McGillivray Township, Ontario. Willie died when he was nine years old. Killed by a runaway horse. The story as told to Cathy Wagner by her Grandmother Viola Scott, was that he was standing with the horse at the water trough when the pole that was used to let the men know when dinner was ready, fell to the ground, startling the horse and Willie had the rein tied to his waist when the horse bolted. He was dragged all the way to the bush. Cathy {Wagner} has a schoolbook that was his.

Following a lengthy illness Robert Hutchinson died on Sunday April 26, at the home of his daughter, Mrs F.W. Steeper in his 82nd year. The son of the late William and Ann Hutchinson, he was born in McGillivray township in 1859. He married Sarah Brophy on November 22, 1882. About 26 years ago they moved from their farm to Parkhill where they resided until his death... Except for 3 years spent in St.Mary's where he was supervisor of Public Works. Mr. Hutchinson was a faithful member of Greenway United Church and later of Parkhill United. He served in both Sunday Schools as a dutiful superintendent for many years. Surviving are his widow Sarah Hutchinson and two sons, Roy and Leslie of McGillivray, and two daughters Mrs. FW Steeper (Mary) of McGillivray and Mrs. Mabel Morley of St. Thomas. He is survived by a sister, Mrs. HC (Hannah) Wilson of Niagara Falls. ----- Parkhill Gazette

Sarah Maria Brophy: Widow of the late Robert Hutchinson, passed away peacefully on Saturday April 17, 1943 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Fred Steeper, where she has made her home since the death of her husband two years ago. She was in her 87th year. The daughter of the late James and Jane Brophy of Greenway. On November 22, 1882 she was married to Robert Hutchinson. They made their home on Lot 4, Concession 26, McGillivray, until the last few years that were spent in Parkhill. -- PG

Dear Aunt

We received your kind and welcomed letter and was glad to here that you are well but sorry to have to say that mother has left us. But being that she had to leave us we were glad she passed away so busy she never was bed sick nor had she any pain at all any more than just weak the night before she died she went to bed about 6 oclock and was up in the night and went back to bed alone. She died about 5 (?) in the morning Feb 23rd. The family was all home but George and we do not know where he is. The rest of us are all prtty well considering our circumstances.

Charlie was home he is living in Sarnia and is fireing (?) on the Grand Trunk Railway and is getting along fine.

As I have told you all the news I will close my letter for this time so good bye.
