Although we are inactive at this time, we have been breeding and showing Maine Coon cats as a hobby since 1989. Our Avicats "cattery" name is registered with the Cat Fanciers' Association (CFA), the International Cat Association (TICA), and the Cat Fanciers' Federation (CFF), although due to our location we showed primarily in CFA. We have had over 15 CFA Grand Champions (in addition to Grand Premiers) as well as Regional Winning, Distinguished Merit and National and Regional Color Winners. We are also a Breeder Member of the Maine Coon Breeders and Fanciers Association (MCBFA).

Our cats are our feline "children"- they share our home with us, which means that (being Maine Coons) they supervise all of our activities, while also enjoying plenty of attention, play-time and lap-time. Our goal as cat-fanciers is to represent the best of our breed in show qualities as well as personality and health. We live by the motto "quality over quantity," and we are rewarded with the health and happiness of our cats and their kittens. Because we feel it is important not to have too many cats, when we breed, we only have one or two litters a year. This allows all of our cats and kittens to get plenty of individual attention and care.

We follow the breed standard, and specialize in large, heavily boned, lushly-coated Maine Coons with wonderful dispositions. When we have kittens, they are raised with lots of human contact and affection- never in cages! When a Mom is expecting babies she has them in a bedroom, off-limits to the rest of the feline household, in order to ensure a healthy and stress-free start in life for the kittens. Although our goal is healthy, friendly cats of high show caliber, we are very happy to place kittens, and an occasional adult, as pets into loving homes, where we know they will live long, full lives. We are selective about where our cats go, and our contract requires the best of care from the new owner as well.

We participate annually in a voluntary cattery inspection program. The extremely positive veterinary evaluation of our home environment and the condition of our cats supports our standing as a certified CFA Cattery of Excellence. Naturally, our cattery is FeLV and FIV negative and our kitties are vaccinated, with their health guaranteed. We also screen our cats for Hip Dysplasia (HD) and Feline Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM).
