Anna is the daughter of James Mathias Clark of
Beverley, Yorkshire, England
(and my step-great-great-grandmother)
Anna Elizabeth (Clark) and her husband Thomas Henry North, immigrated to
the USA in 1870 with their 8 children and her step-daughter,
Sarah Jane (North) Whiteing, by Thomas' 1st marriage.
The style of dress and hair suggests that this photo was taken in England
during the 1840s. Anna died before the family moved to the Vail Iowa
area, so the original photo was likely copied by photographer J. F. Barton,
in Vail, Iowa for the family.
