Notes on the Fox lineage:

First in Va. was a Capt. John Fox of the 'Whitehorse and Currycombe', by order of the English Admiralty was given permission on Aug. 8, 1650 to leave for Virginia, on the ship called the 'Thomas and Anne'. John Fox, commander. They landed the 'Thomas and Ann " on May 4, 1656 in Virginia. In York Co., Va. Records Book for 1657-l662, pg. 148: "I, John Fox, of the parish of Stepney in the county of  Midddlesex, now in London, mariner,  send greetings..." (Va. Historical Mag. And Biog.  vol. XIV, p. 85-86.)  "At Sea. Latitude 24 degrees .7 br ye 9th 1662," by Stephen Fox  who appears to have died at sea en route from New England to London. It is addressed to "Lovinge brother" and was  administered as a will in London on Oct.20, 1663, by his brother John Fox. In the will, Stephen mentioned "Brothers Thomas, William, Peter, sister Mary," and gave instructions for the disposition of tobacco on the "James River" in Virginia. 'There was a Thomas Fox who was a member of the London Company in 1609. (Hening, Statues at Large, I, pg. 86.)

In Apri1 1683, Thomas Lord Culpepper  with the consent of the Council granted to Henry Fox, by patent, 300 acres of land in New Kent and Gloucester Counties, bounded by the line of  William Anderson and "by a branch nigh  Col. John Lewis his Quarters". This grant consisted of 200 acres which  John Fox had purchased from Thomas Hanks and 100 acres  100 acres new taken up for the transportation of  two  persons (Roberts Seale and Thomas Lee) into the colony. John Fox died some time before April 16, 1683.

Henry Fox  was son and heir of John Fox, ca. 1650-1714; it appears the first of the Fox
name to patent lands and establish a home in now: King William Co., Va. He married  Ann West, the daughter of Col. John West and had issue:

Henry Fox (ca 1650-1714) presented to the council a petition on behalf of John & Thomas Fox his sons of Nathaniel West, devisees of John West decd. setting forth that said John  West by deed of gift and by his will and Testament give and grant to John West decd. Thomas and Nathaniel West his sons and said Henry Fox a certain tract or divident of land containing by estimate about 4,000 acres lying now King William Co.,Va.,..." Leave to survey Was give and patents were granted on Oct.31,1712. Henry Fox was prominent in the affairs of the county, ho1ding at one time or another every high office. He was a vestryman  of St. John's parish in 1695. He was also a burgess of King William 1702-12. He had a son named  Henry  who was sheriff of King William Co., Va. in 1724, and 1725. His last appearance in Brunswick  Co. was in 1735 when Henry Fox of N.C. deeded his land to John Davis. He married Mary Claiborne, see Claiborne Family and Reliques  of the Rives. He had issue:
