This is my virtual notebook for the HTML, Web Graphics & Web Design class I am taking at Virtual University
It will be used as a record of my assignments for the class.
I have created a new page Sarah's Crafts Page which will have pictures of things I have made and categorised links. All assigment requirements will be made on that page and then noted in this notebook. I hope to maintain the page after the class is finished and develop it into a Craft Reference site.
A webpage I really like is At Home with Annabella
Apart from being made by a fellow Australian, it is well designed, very informative in the areas of crafts and html and has information about Rockingham, the suburb she lives in.
Part Two
1. I changed the colour of the background from grey to white by using BGCOLOR="#FFFFFF" in the <BODY> tag. I use Netscape and the settings were set that the background automatically appears white but I know that when I used to use an older version of Netscape the page would appear either grey or the colour that was set in the Desktop Themes of Win95.
2. I used the <P> </P> tags to separate paragraphs on my page.
3. I used the <CENTER> </CENTER> tags to centre the Heading and the Welcome message on my page.
4. I used the <H1> </H1> tags for the main heading on my page. I also used the <H3> </H3> tags for the welcome message.
Assignment Two
Part One
1. I created a second html document called Links.html
2. The HTML tags I have used in this document are: <BASEFONT SIZE>, <HR> (with width, size & noshade attributes), <OL> and <LI> tags (an ordered list), used the BGCOLOR attribute to change the background colour to blue. I also used the <FONT FACE> tag to change the font of the heading. Also, in mypage.html I have used the <ADDRESS> </ADDRESS> tags to highlight my personal homepage address.
I used an Inline Style Sheet for the heading of my links page (links.html).
3. I have added a link to the links page from my first page.
4. I added a link back to the first page from the links page.
Part Two
Answers to Review questions:
Were you able to use or create a template file?
Yes
If you were able to use or create the template, were you able to save it as HTML?
Yes
Did you begin your HTML "virtual notebook" and perform the exercises at the end of Lesson 1?
Yes
Using http://www.ncsa.uiuc.edu/General/Internet/WWW/HTMLPrimerAll.html I found that the third type of list is a Definition list. However, after referring to Bare Bones Guide to HTML I found there are another two types of lists. The Menu and Directory lists.
After reading about the Style Sheets I feel they could be very useful and save a lot of time but will take a while to get used to using them. I tried using one in the Heading of my links page and found it easy to use.

Assignment Three
1. I created a basic table to list some of the HTML resources used in creating the page.
2. I used some graphics from A Touch of Country. I also added a Midi file and an email link.
