Coutesy of Steve Stephan
Thank you Steve, for finding my crest!
This is the Scottish Nicholson or MacNicol Crest, which has been confirmed by Bill Nicholson, Nicholson List owner. According to Bill,
“This crest is indeed the Coat of Arms of Nicolson of Scorrybreac. I have a copy of an old drawing of this crest that has been in my family for
about 50 years. Within just the past couple of years the Chief has been granted new arms. The Coats of Arms belong to the individual that they are granted to, in this
case to Iain MacNeacail of Scorrybreac and MacNeacail, Chief of the Highland Clan MacNeacail. With Scottish Clans there are Clan Crests that are for the
Clan members to wear. They contain parts of the Chief’s Arms, surrounded by a strap and buckle, and are worn to display loyalty to the Chief.”
Thank you again, Steve and Bill!
Courtesy of Marsha L. Hillson Gerace Sorry, but I do not have any information about
this crest. I was looking for a Scottish Nicholson crest, but I think
Steve has found it! My cousin, Michael
D. Nicholson of Ottawa, ON, described one to me; “The correct coat of arms is Bright Yellow with a Red Chevron and Three Red Eagle heads like
the crest. One head below the chevron and two above in each corner.”
