CRDTC Instructors

Jane Young
Jane teaches the Beginner and Advanced Beginners classes for CRDTC. She has been training dogs since 1996. Since April 2003 she has taught competition obedience, Rally O, and a children's dog class at a local dog training school. Additionally, she uses clicker based training to teach pet dog management in the homes of private clients. She has attended clicker seminars with Kathy Sdao and bases her methods on a combination of techniques by Sdao, Morgan Spector, Lana Mitchell, and Karen Pryor.

With her own dogs, Jane has achieved 3 CDs and 3 CDXs including a High in Trial at a regional Toller Club specialty. She is currently working two dogs at the Utility level. She has also earned the Rally Excellent title. She does dog therapy visits and completed the Pets and People Therapy Dog Excellent title. Jane has also been a regional director for the national Toller Club, finishing a six year term in 2005.

Jane believes that dog training should be fun and successful for dog and handler. The clicker based method of training teaches dogs how to "do it right" rather than punishing a dog for "doing it wrong" so everybody wins.

Jane has a bachelor's degree in secondary education and has taught courses in horticulture for both youngsters and adults. She runs the research greenhouses for Wheaton College.
