Rose Wilder Lane was the only child of Laura and Almanzo Wilder. She was born on December 5, 1886 in De Smet, South Dakota and later settled with her parents in Mansfield, Missouri. She completed her highschool education in Crowley, Louisiana. She married Claire Gilette Lane in 1909 and they divorced in 1918. They had one child, a son, who died at birth. Rose was a famous author and she wrote many books, including Let the Hurricane Roar, Faces at the Window, Free Land, Old Home Town, and Home Over Saturday. Rose was an avid traveler and visited many different parts of the world and wrote many articles about her experiences.
