BASTIN Family History Told Through Maps

It is always best to know where an ancestor lived, since the records are only going to be found if you know where to look for them! The following maps show the locations where our ancestors and relatives lived, and, with the associated family history information, provide a sense of the geography of the area(s) where they lived.

The 1834 maps in color are from H.S. Tanner's famous 1834 map of the United States, and are in the public domain. The scanned versions shown here are provided with permission of the University of Connecticut. They provide not only the needed geographical view, but an historical view as well, since, especially for Metcalfe County, KY, it did not even exist in 1834!

The 1895 maps in color are from an 1895 US Atlas and are in the public domain. The scanned versions shown here are provided with permission of Pam Rietsch, prietsch@ismi.net, and are from the large scanned Kentucky map on her 1895 Atlas page. Pam has done a wonderful job at making this information available for genealogical research!

The modern maps (1994) in black and white are small excerpts from public domain county maps from the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Complete county maps of these, and many other Kentucky counties, are available here, but, be warned, they are huge, often being larger than 1 megabyte!

These navigation arrows will be on the bottoms of all of the next few pages to allow you to navigate through these family history pages!
