Pastor Ray's Workbench

When I need a break, I come here to indulge myself in my hobbies. My wife says that I tend to pick up a new hobby about every six months and explore it. Then I'll drop it and pick up something else. It drives her crazy, but since it rarely costs much of anything she lets me have my way. I have worked in many craft and handwork areas, from full-size carpentry projects, like my kid's elevated clubhouse, to crochet, carving rubber stamps and drawing with pencil and charcoal.

Crochet Partners
I wasn't kidding about the crochet. When my mother recently died, I inherited all her yarn and hooks. Doing the crochet seemed to be a good therapy for working out my grief...handling her things and completing some of her projects. Each person has to work out grief in their own way, this was my way.

Drawing
If you'd like to know something about artistic techniques, try going to The Arts Q&A Pages. If you'd like to see some of my own drawings, click here.

The Toy Zone
Everyone has to collect something, right? Some people collect stamps, some people collect coins, some people just collect wrinkles and gray hair. I collect fast food toys, whether from McDonald's, Burger King or Taco Bell. You'd be really surprised at how many people do this, and how much some of these things are worth! But I do it because my kids eat the meals, then discard the toys after 10 minutes. It started as an act of self-preservation and ended up being a cheap hobby.

Now if you think THAT'S silly, I'll show you just how Looney I really am! Stop over to The Unofficial Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies Page. My entire PC is themed around the Looney Tunes, from the wallpaper to the various bells and whistles that Win95 (yes, I'm one of THOSE) allows you to customize.

Magic
Yes, you heard that one right, too. I have an interest in magic, that is performing magic tricks, especially for the sake of spreading the good news about Jesus Christ. If you are interested, try looking at the Fellowship of Christian Magicians for more information. There is also an online magazine that's pretty good called Magic Times.

I love the outdoors, and activities therein. I'm an old country boy, brought up in the woods of Maine (way North of where all the tourists are!). If you'd like to see some good Fishin, hunting, camping and hiking links, stop over to this site, All Outdoors.
