My Easy Chair is a good place to come when I am tired. My faithful friend Rocky likes to come and sit with me. After all, what is an easy chair without a dog at your feet, or in your lap. He can always be counted on to make you feel welcome when you come home.

This picture was taken when he was just over a year old; he is about 2 1/2 years old now. Rocky is a purebred Shih Tzu from Rainbow Kennels. He's not a show dog, but is a companion dog. He has several physical faults which made us decide not to show him, but that doesn't detract from his typical Shih Tzu temperment. I have owned many dogs in my lifetime from German Shepherds on down, but this little dog is the best I've ever owned. Rocky is about 18 pounds, with silky black and white hair. He doesn't shed because he has HAIR, not fur. That means that his coat keeps growing, like a persons, and doesn't shed. It also means that he is 'hypoallergenic'. I'm allergic to dogs (not that that has ever stopped me from owning them!), so it makes life a little more pleasant. Also, no vacuuming required...other than when he decides to drop his kibble all over the house.

He is absolutely great with the kids. One day I walked into the living room and found my daughter playing with her dolls and carriages. As I looked at the doll, dressed up and in a doll baby walker, I realized that it was Rocky! Completely dressed, and tucked neatly in, with only his face showing. He never growled or fussed, he was calm as could be under the circumstances. Just a sad look on his little face that said 'Help me, Daddy!'. I told my daughter that she was lucky I hadn't bought a less tolerant dog!
