In the scheme of a cat's life time (an average of 15 plus years now) and the cost of a pedigreed cat, it is well worth a few dollars invested in books to be sure you are getting the right cat for your lifestyle, or researching whether you should be exhibiting or breeding cats. Note: Some of these books may be out of print and hard to find
I suggest checking the online used book stores or ebay on a regular basis.
The Russian Blue Cat
by Ingeborg Urcia This is my bible, I am on my 2nd copy as the first became torn & dog-eared!! A great history of the Russian Blue along with good tips on feeding caring for your Russian. There is also a small section on breeding and showing your wonderful blue cat.
Cats for Dummies
by Gina Spadafori, Paul D. Pion Don't be embarassed about the title--this is a VERY informative book!! It is very up to date with small descriptions about even the newest breeds. It discusses in great detail how you should choose a breed and points out questions you should ask the breeders. They place great emphasis on getting the correct cat to the correct home. It also has chapters on medical care, and other cat resources including Internet web sites dealing with cats and cat fanciers. I HIGHLY recommend this book!!!
