Kitty Glop

Sometimes there is a need to feed a kitten or ill cat a high calorie,
nourishing food to keep them going. This can include a sick,
weak cat who won't eat, a small kitten removed (or taken) from it's mother at a
too young age, a large litter which needs supplemental feedings from momma cat,
or even the nursing momma cat herself, who has high calorie requirements while nursing.

If so, here is a recipe used by breeders around the world to supplemental feed kittens and cats. It can also be used for tube feedings. It is high in calories, palatable & nutritious. It is also made from ingredients found around the house or at your local supermarket. Because it is made from fresh ingredients, it is very healthy even for the smallest kitten.
And...best of all, cats LOVE it!!!

Here is a recipe for Kitty Glop: You will need the following supplies to make this:

Unflavored Knox Gelatin
Eggs
Plain Yogurt (not low fat)
Mayonnaise (not low fat)
Light Karo Syrup (light meaning in color-not the dark Karo syrup)
Evaporated milk (not condensed milk)

How to make Kitty Glop:

2 packets of Knox Gelatin
2 cups boiling water

Mix together and set aside to cool

Now mix together:

4 eggs (yolks only)
4 Tablespoons Plain Yogurt
2 Tablespoons Mayonnaise
2 tsp. light Karo Syrup
2 Cups evaporated milk

After thoroughly mixing, add the cooled Knox Gelatin you had set aside -
you can add liquid cat vitamins if you would like but it is not necessary.
This will keep (covered) in your refrigerator for 7 days....
don't panic when you open the refrigerator and find you have "gelatin milk"...
because that is what happens to it. I take what I need out,
warm back to its liquid state in the microwave and serve to the babies. They love it.
DO NOT pour left over used Kitty Glop back into the refrigerated supply!!!!
I have used Kitty Glop to bottle feed an entire litter when their momma had
mastitis & could no longer feed them. I had no diarrhea (the gelatin helps with this),
no refusal to drink formula or other side effects from this.

Vatrushka Russian Blue helpful hints:
Warning--microwave slowly and just until it is liquid--
if you heat glop too hot, the eggs cook--not a good thing!!
Lukewarm is fine for kittens/cats to eat it.
If you need to cut recipe down, I would suggest only by half.
If you have extra or more than you need to supplement just one kitten,
try giving some to the nursing mom as she needs extra calories.
I have also used glop mixed with soaked, mashed kitten kibble
to make a "gravey" to wean kittens.
Just warm it slightly in the microwave.
Usually, they just slurp it up!!
Remember, if your cat is really sick, see a vet, don't take chances!!!
