Descendants of Peter and Anna (Johannsen) Holst

Descendants of Peter and Anna (Johannsen) Holst of Mariengaard, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. Ethnically, they are Danish. Their son Peter (born 1847) set sail at age 22 from Hamburg, Germany on the ship "Germania", arriving in New York City on 7 June 1869. At first, Peter resided in Connecticut, where his first child was born in 1875. He and his wife Caroline (Thomsen) Holst (also from Schleswig-Holstein) arrived in Healdsburg, Sonoma, California by 1877. Peter worked as a shoemaker and later a butcher. In Sonoma County, he had a vineyard and a winery.
