We are new to e-mail and the net. After Wednesday our e-mail will be chimneycreek1@turbonet.com. I'm looking for cowboy poetry pages that exchange author's poems and/or feature a cowboy poet now and then. I've recited at Salmon, ID, Cedar City, Utah, St. Anthony, ID and other more local. Having a ball and looking to contact others that enjoy. My newest effort:
Quiet as the coming dawn You crept from our warm bed Without the courage to bare your soul You left me a letter instead Still there on the pine dresser It leans against the mirror The script of your round hand Reads, "Mary, I'll love you forever." Your mocassins whispered on the stairs A prayer that I would not wake But my heart knew your cunning And I was still for your sake The door you made from fir timber Closed with a gentle sound And Sikum softly whinnied Knowing you were trail bound I rose then from the feather bed We made from our very own hands And watched through our window As you mounted and rode from our land My Nellie whickered, calling her friend Leaning over the gate, testing the air Testing and listening Watching her partner disappear I watched the sunrise Over far-distant hills Overwhelming night shadows Warming our window sills An eagle flew high Ever higher he flew Until two black specs were all I could see Of that air-borne eagle and you You dreamed of a wild and beautiful land Where beaver build and otter play Where buffalo roam and a bedroll is home A campfire glow at the end of a day The glory of waterfalls cascading down With rainbows in their shimmering mist Southern slopes of blue Lupine The warm spring sun has kissed Nights of moon and stars and coyote calls Ghosts and dragons in Colter's hell Sharps at the ready while you ride Trails and rondeveouz, stories to tell Then when the icy fingers of frost Touch the brilliant colors of fall And snow drifts down from the mountain peak The to the lodge of Walking Tall The pleasure of friendships renewed A dusky maiden by your side Timinie timisa timina We shared the warmth of a buffalo hide Ah we were young And the days were young The trees and the grass and the sky Held songs to be sung How we loved the land Wallowa Valley sparkling lake and river Lush bounty for horse and cattle Storing salmon for the winter I'm done, but the poem isn't. Will look forward to hearing from you.

Thank you for your site. Sent to me by a friend. I have only just started exploring your site. but will be back again. My ancestors settled in Kansas in 1870's. I am a city slicker in the east but have always been fascinated with the old west. I have travelled the west from dodge city to Deadwood t Tombstone and read as much as I can about the west. The music and stories on your page are great. I had an uncle that was a cowboy and farm hand in the early 1900's in Kansas he traveled from ranch to ranch mostly in Colorado and OK, and KS for a livi g. He didnt talk much. Yup and Nope was all you got from him mostly. But fortunatly on a trip back west He sat and talked one day just me and him about his life as a cowboy. A memory I will always cherish. your pages bring these memories back for me. Thank you.

I protest bout dat der linkin bis ness of yalls. Why I got this here site that's country! It jest aint got no 'boy' yet to go with the cows. If'n it weren't fer the country, there would da been no need fer cowboys. It has humor, cows, chickens, pigs, t e open range, poems, poetry, and hick jokes, but I ain't seen no cowboy on the site except for Jake whose there because he winks at me all a times I come on to visit ~ no matter what I'm wearing, or what I look like! Can't really call him a cowboy, he's ret near like a was been (meanin he's a had it with being a cow'boy' and he's now a dirty ol cuss who can't get his stetson off'n his head. Seems a dern shame that Country Livin at http://members.tripod.com/~itbemeJanet/index.html can't be linked to your site. Specially since it has cow patties, designs on a coupl'a pages is from Gunslinger Graphics, and there's an outhouse, Yea, yea, I know. Cowboys usually used a bush or the open range for this business. It has a couple two or three (pret near) backgro nds with cowboy midis. Another outhouse there could be mistaken for a line shack. It has this really strange country doctor who might have had a bull in his family tree somewhere. There's also a recipe with whiskey as the main ingredient. Nope, I admit here ain't no horses there but it's got some barb wire to keep the varmits and vigilantes out. Its got some chickens which are 'gone wif the wind', and some cow sense which there ain't no charge fer. My pappy always says 'don't get yourself attached to s me'un whose not attached to you, so I'll jest slink back to my country livin place and jest sneak back here fer a quick peek once in a while cuz it's a dern good site! Don't matter no how cuz I ain't got no fancy banner to leave wif you, in fact I ain't g t none of my own atall. I ain't weird no matter how this here note sounds -- I jest like pokin fun with my strange sense of humor! Don't be surprised if this here note pops into your guest book. You'll keep that trail happy, cause I'ma comin back. Jane

I am trying to find an old cowboy poem it began "old sal was a singular critter, a mule but her morals were strict, she'd hand you a hoof if you cused her and I rise to remark you were kicked." I am 80 and this dates back to my age of 8 or 9. I sure would appreciate your help. W. L. Ware 9616 Sweeping View Dr. New Port Richey, Fl. 34655

By the way, the pictures are great -- would love to see the more o the hat collection. But what you have is very satisfying and extremely entertaining. Thank you so very much for sharing. Now I cordially invite you to visit me at:
