The River Daniel Blue Home ca. 1795 is on highway NC 22 just off highway 15-501 South to Pinehurst NC on River Daniel Road. The home is a weather-boarded log structure with later additions and changes indicative of the house's evolution and has been owned by Blues ever since it was bought by Daniel Blue in 1804. The house has heart of pine interiors, pegged log sills, and twentieth century additions. It is one of the few surviving log houses of the period and is a study in the architectural development of an early structure. Along with the farm, it represents generations of the same family. (Statement of significance taken from the National Register of Historic Places Inventory Nomination Form written on April 14, 1983)

Adjacent to the two story log house is a board and batten building probably built as a "holding house" for storage of supplies. It was built about the same time as the house but was used as a kitchen when the original kitchen burned. It is set up today as a 1900 kitchen might have been.( see pictures in this section.) In 1918, a more modern kitchen/dining room ell was added to the log house. The loft was finished and partitioned and a sleeping room was added on the second story facade. The current residents are the 5th and 6th generations of descendants. John Samuel, Sr. is the present owner who with his wife Louise live on the property and maintain it with meticulous care. Along with their son John S. Blue, Jr. they continue to farm the land. For 190 years the farm has been worked by the Blue Family and land use patterns have changed very little. The current Blues have always made the descendants of Billy Blue feel a part of this history and the development of the property and we, in turn, have accepted our inclusion.
