I can see you smiling,
a carefree, happy smile.
On a sunny day; the birds are chirping soundlessly.
Behind you a man/woman is running,
hurrying to a waiting car.
To a secret lover, perhaps?

Yellow tulips, red roses; all around you
proudly reaching towards the sun.
You hold a bouqet of them in your hands.
They never seemed more at home,
Gently swaying in the warm spring wind.

But it is your eyes I see.
Your happy, shining eyes.
Mirrored within, I see me.
Young, middle-aged. Old.
Always happy; myself. At home.

You sit on a bench in a park,
with me.
In a picture that was never taken.
*S* A smile takes but a moment, but the memory of it sometimes lasts forever. None is so rich or mighty that he can get along without it, and none is so poor but that he can be made rich by it. Keep on smiling...:o)
