1. Believe in what you are doing....if you don't believe no one else will
2. Find somebody who will tell you the truth.... a relative or friend will think everything you write is great
3. Everything you write will NOT be good....save it anyway, you might be able to use it later
4. Find a successful songwriter you like, dissect their work, find out what they are doing right, don't copy their style but use their work to learn
5. Talk to other writers
6. Read, expand your vocabulary....the more words you know the better you will write
7. Read and study the Bible....know what you are writing about and keep your songs biblical....people believe what they hear....make sure you're right
8. Don't get discouraged....easier said than done....I've wanted to quit several times
9. When you are first starting to write, work on one song at a time....don't start another song before you finish the one you are working on presently
10. Rewrite, rewrite, rewrite....never, never, NEVER put a song out that is not the very best you can do.... never compromise quality just to finish a song
