I homeschooled my son from kindergarden through 10th grade. He is now a senior in high school and is applying for colleges. I am in the wonderful position of being asked to supplement his very short transcript with a description of what we did at home. Being able to define your child to the schools, to highlight his uniqueness, is much more input than most parents of college-bound kids are given. I see in my son an extraordinary individual, and I know that the liberty of homeschooling is largely respo sible for that. He will graduate at 17, and even now I feel confident that he possesses the resourcefulness and the sence of self that he will help him find and follow his path. I loved our years at home together. It is the best for the integrity of the family. My children actually grew up together instead of having school schedules separating them. Man, o, man....am I gonna miss that kid!!

Seems to me that a lot of people don't go for homeschooling because they can't give up their TV long enough to take the time for it. my son is a 9th grader in a Dept. of Defense Dependent School. I am throughly disgusted with the fact that if your child receives all "F's" they will simply pass your child to the next grade. It is unthinkable to image that taxpayers are paying for depen ents to waste their money like that. Many of the teachers don't even care whether a child even comes to school. Since we live in Germany for the duration of our overseas assignment, we have no choice as to which schools our children attend. Our school roblems are worse than in the U.S. because we have more drugs and teen pregnancy in our military community than I have ever seen anywhere and we are originally from California just outside of Los Angeles.

I definitly recomend homeschooling to any one who has a chance to. I did it for 6-9th grade and loved it. You learn so much stuff you can't learn in a class room. I was glad to go to a real high school though, I think that going there prepared me to si in a lecture hall in college.

My daughter lives in Ft Leavenworth, KS. Her oldest child will be 3 in November. She will be taking her 2 days per week to a Christian pre-school. She was devastated when her daughter and 7 other children burst into tears and mild hysteria when their p rents were leaving them. Only 1 child was "ok" with it. I've been talking to her about home schooling since her husband is in the service and they will be moving around. Home schooling will allow her to have consistency at home no matter where they mov . Do you know of someone she can contact where she lives, since Kansas City is about 45 minutes away and she is pregnant with her 3rd child? She knows nothing about curriculum, materials or cost.
