What's the little guy up to now?
Birth Date-December 11, 1996
The Disney Pooh Page Aidan is now seven years old. He is having a great time in first grade, and he really loves learning. He just loves playing with other kids, and he's usually pretty good, though he did have a few problems at the begining of the year. He loves learning new things, and he loves books. He can read and sound out hard words very well, and his penmanship is getting much better.
Aidan loves to play on the computer...he's a real pro with it. He can start it up all by himself and put in the cd, install the game and get it going, without any help. He also has a playstation and a gameboy advance that he likes to play too. Of course we don't let him play on the electronics too much.
Aidan's favorite toys right now are legos, and other building toys. He recieved 7 different building toys for his birthday last week, and he's put them all together, even though most of them say they are for ages 8+. He'll be getting even more for christmas, which I'm sure he'll love...the one he most wants, which is the Lego's Orient Expedition Dragon Fortress(again recommended for ages 8-11, but he'll do it all himself with minimal help from dad). His other favorite is Transformers. He loves being able to change the robots into their other forms and back. He has also just started to get into Yugioh, the trading cards, and he loves to play.
Aidan also started doing some sports this year, which he loves. Earlier this year he took a judo class, and now he is in a local wrestling club. They have regular practices twice a week and tournaments every weekend. Aidan enjoys the practices, but he's not too sure about the tournaments. He had a bad experience with the first tournament, and now he no longer wants to go to them. Apparently one of the kids he was wrestling wasn't using regulation holds, and he was choking Aidan, hurting him enough to make him cry. This kid had done the same thing to kids he'd wrestled before Aidan, leaving a trail of crying boys behind him. So now Aidan doesn't want to go to the tournaments, and since this is his first experience, and he is still fairly young, we are not forcing him to go.
Aidan loves his little sister. They do fight a bit, but they also play together a lot. The fights usually happen because Aidan wants what Quinn is playing with, or Quinn wants what Aidan is playing with. Sharing is a hard lesson to teach at their age. Most of the time, though, they are very loving toward each other, and give lots of hugs and kisses. One of their favorite things to do is to play chase around the kitchen island....Its very good for wearing them out around bedtime.
Here's a story from when Aidan was about 6 months old:
One of the greatest things about Aidan is his personality....he has to be one of the happiest babies alive! Strangers always come up to us just to comment on how happy he is. He attracts a lot of people, since he is also very cute. We were out having dinner the other night, and we were getting served by several different waitresses...we were starting to wonder what was going on when one waitress finally told us they just had to stop by and see Aidan because they were talking about him up at the counter.
On another occasion, Shane was getting his hair cut so Aidan and I were waiting for him when a woman walks in off the sidewalk and tells me she just had to come in and say hi to Aidan. Boy, he's going to get a great big ego if this kind of thing keeps up!
For those of you who would like to know, Aidan is an Irish name that means little firey one. We found the name in an old baby names book. The book also said that there was a Saint Aidan from Ireland.
