Introduction

The Bible is a book that has transcended throughout history. I am pleased to present to you this page about the Bible and hope that it brings to you a desire to search further and get to know the author personally. I find the Bible to be a love letter from my Lord and hope that I can convey this to you through this web page. Enjoy exploring the links and information. All passages of scripture are taken from the New International Version and will be marked red for easier reading.

Adam and Eve

God speaks to us through word pictures. Descriptions of the lives of others who have lived before us paint a myriad of portraits that upon closer examination, give us visual lessons of much deeper meanings. They also tend to correlate with other events in the Bible in a prophetic way. Such a story is the creation of man and woman. Adam and Eve were the first people to be created by God. He created man and then in Genesis 2:18, The Lord God said, "It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him." This is where we see the establishment of the family. From this time of creation and throughout the Bible, the family is shown as an example of the structure of authority God has put into place. Another passage of scripture that speaks to the subject can be found in the New Testament. Ephesians 5:22-33;6:1-4 is only one more of many passages that show the family as a picture of the authority God has put into place.

The fall of man is but another picture for us from God's word. Genesis 30 The sin of Adam brings a need for man to be redeemed. Until Adam sinned, man had a perfect relationship with God. After his fall, the relationship was severed and was in need of restoration. From this point on, man was, and still continues to be, born spiritually dead. The sacrifice of God's son was our only hope for restoration. I have asked Bro. Richard Owen Roberts to discuss regeneration. The Old Testament law is given and God gives man the instruction to sacrifice animals for their sins. The animals that were sacrificed for sin were unspotted lambs. The priests were to examine the lamb and if any spot or blemish was found, the lamb was not used as a sacrifice.

Matt.27:32-61; Mark 15:21-47; Luke 23:26-56; John 19 You can read the account of the crucifixion, death and burial of Jesus on line in BibleJohn 19 This is a picture of Jesus, the one with no sin. The seed of God that was born to a virgin woman. He is the second Adam. He was born with no sin. He lived without sin. He took our sins and died on the Cross to pay the penalty for them. The music of What A Friend We Have In Jesus. is a beautiful testamony of the love of our Lord and Savior. Jesus On The Cross Jesus

Noah and the Ark

Noah, the man who built the ark is yet another picture for us. Man had become so evil and perverse that the scripture states that God repented of making man. See Genesis:6-9turnbook.gif to read the entire account. to read the entire account. Genesis 6:8 says, "But Noah found favor in the eyes of the Lord" . God told Noah to build a big boat known as an ark. Noah preached and built the ark. When the ark was finished, God told Noah to gather the animals, a male and female of each unclean animal, and seven male and female of the clean animals. In spite of his preaching no one repented, therefore, God told Noah and his family to get on the ark after it was completed. Noah and his family were the only humans saved. It began to rain and continued for forty days and forty nights. God flooded the world and every living creature was killed. After it stopped raining, God sent a wind over the earth and the waters receded. After some time had passed, Noah sent out a raven and it returned to him. Later he sent a dove, and the dove came back. He sent the dove again and this time it returned with an olive branch. Dove He sent the dove once more and it did not return. Some time after this, God told Noah to come out of the ark, and he did. God made a covenant with Noah, that he would never destroy the earth with water again. He sealed this covenant with a rainbow. Jesus' Baptism

Matt 3:13-17; Mark 1:9-11; Luke 3:21,22; John 1:31-34 In the New Testament, we find Jesus at his baptism. He came and asked John the Baptist, his cousin, to baptize him. John is hesitant and says he needs to be baptized of Jesus, so Jesus assures him of his need for baptism. He tells John it is for fulfillment of prophecy and obedience. John agrees to baptize Jesus. As Jesus is coming out of the water, God speaks and says, "This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased." (Matt.3:17) At the same time the Holy Spirit descends on Jesus as a dove. This is a picture of the Trinity. Father, Son and Holy Spirit are seen and heard together at this moment. In an article from the newsgroup, soc.religion.christian.bible-study, the picture of the Trinity is addressed.

Lazarus Raised from the Dead

In John 11:1-44, we see Jesus is contacted about a friend who is dying. Lazarus is the brother of Mary and Martha. Jesus lingers a while before he goes to the home of his friends. When he gets to their home he finds that Lazarus is dead and is buried in a tomb for four days. Martha went out to meet Jesus and Mary stayed at home. In verse 21-22, upon seeing Jesus, Martha said "Lord, if only you had been here, my brother would not have died. But I know that even now God will give you whatever you ask." Jesus told her that her brother would rise again. She said she knew that he would rise again in the resurrection at the last day. Verse 25-27 says: Jesus said to her,"I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?" "Yes, Lord," she told him, "I believe that you are the Christ, the son of God, who was to come into the world." After this Martha went back and told Mary that Jesus was there. When Mary went to meet Jesus, she was deeply grieved. She said to Jesus, "Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died." Jesus was deeply moved. He asked where Lazarus was buried and followed as they took him to the tomb. During this time Jesus wept.(vs.25.) The people were talking amongst themselves about how much Jesus loved Lazarus, and asked if Jesus could have kept Lazarus from dying. At the tomb, Jesus told them to roll away the stone. Martha became concerned about the odor of her brother's body, because of his being in the tomb for four days. (Verse 40-44) Then Jesus said, "Did I not tell you that if you believed, you would see the glory of God?" So they rolled away the stone, Then Jesus looked up and said, "Father, I thank you that you have heard me. I know that you always hear me, but I said this for the benefit of the people standing here, that they may believe that you sent me." When he had said this, Jesus called in a loud voice, "Lazarus, come out!" The dead man came out, his hands and feet wrapped with strips of linen, and a cloth around his face." Jesus said to them, "Take off the grave clothes and let him go."

This is a picture of the resurrection of the Lord, Jesus Christ. The account of the resurrection is found in Matt 28:1-10; Mark 16; Luke 24:1-12 and John 20. You may read the account from
John 20turnbook.gif on line. After Jesus was dead and in the tomb for three days, He raised from the dead and death no longer has a hold on us. God conquered death. It is said well in I Corinthians 15:55. "Where O death, is your victory? Where, O death is your sting?" We that belong to God are now free from eternal death. Eternal life is ours! Praise God! HE is truly GREAT! and deserves ALL the GLORY. The music of How Great Thou Art. is a wonderful tribute to our God. The King of Kings. The Lord of Lord reigns forever!
