Hey, cool site. I'm trying to complete my family tree for I'd like to show my little son Erik Oliver Darga (born 06. Feb. 1999) a bit of family history as soon as he's able to understand. The earliest I've been able to find was Erik's great great great great (was that fo r?) grandfather Ferdinand Darga, of whom I only have a name. He was the father of Robert Franz Darga, born 13. or 19. of October 1857 in Borowo (or sth. like that)/ region of Karthaus. He was the father of Agnes Darga, born 19. of April 18xx. She was not arried (shame!) and had a son called Hermann Darga, born 19.3.1916. His son Hans-Jaochim is my dad, and by the way, my name is Oliver Stephan Darga, born 06. of October 1970 (turning 30 this year, oh no!). I'd love to share any kinds of information, so do not hesitate to contact me!!!

Came across the Darga genealogy so logged on. Notice that (3)Teofield Darga had children Joseph, Le0, John, Anthony, Frank and Anna. Could this be a coincidence but My fathere Leo had brothers: Joseph, John, Mike, Anthony and sisters: Clara, Martha ,and Anna (I think) Our name was changed in the 30's from Darga to Darge. My grandmother passed away in 1956, not my grandfather.Could we be related? Please respond. terri smith

I came across this web site as I was trying to locate the origin of my surname which is Ladmann. Perhaps someone can help me? I would like to find out anything that I can. If there are any other Ladmann's in Canada or the USA or any other part of the world for that matter. I have tried on the Internet before and this is the first time that I was able to find anything. I look forward to hearing from someone.

I came across your web-page while I was looking for my friends which I've last spoken 15 years ago. And since I've lost my phone book I've been searching for them on the net. One of these people is (or was) named Ipek Darga. I have no idea if she's related to you. The only information I can remember on her is that she was born in either 1961 or 1963 in Istanbul and a graduate of the Chemical engineering department of Istanbul Technical University. She's about 168 cm has black hair and black eyes. And very possibly right now working in advertisement industry somewhere in Istanbul Turkey. If you have any information please forward it to me at mbkonuk@efes.net.tr Thx

Comments:
I am Louis Amedee Darga, born 1951, from the Indian Ocean island of Mauritius. I have been researching the genealogy of Darga, starting from those in Mauritius. I have found that the first Darga who came or was brought to Mauritius, was a woman by the n me of Francoise Darga. In the population census of 1825, she is recorded to be 45 years old, and to have come from India, but was a Catholic. I have not been able to go beyond and trace the point of departure and further connection from India. This lea es two unresolved hypotheses: (a) that at some point in history, under some circumstances, some Darga of Kaszub origin moved or were moved to India; (b) that Francoise Darga of India is a completely different line of Darga. The fact that she was of Catho ic faith makes me more inclined to the (a) hypothesis. The matter remains unresolved.

For more info on the Kashube get the book "The Cassubian Civilization" by Friedrich Lorentz.
Also, the novel "The Tin Drum" by Gunter Grass. While the latter is fiction, perhaps it will answer some questions.

"Your DARGA connection!"
