WORK??
Robert and Sarah WILSON and John and spouse WILSON remained in S.C. while all of the other children and families went to Jefferson County, AL by the year 1819. Many later moved to Talladega County, AL and the Coosa Land District.
William and Martha "Patsy" (Tarrant) WILSON were in Winterboro, AL (Talladega Co.) by 1832. William died in 1836, by then they had 5 surviving children:
1) William (1818) md Caroline
M. ESTILL
2) Mary Jane (1823) md Nathaniel
WELCH
3) Marcus Lafayette (1827)
(Cpt CSA)
4) Jasper Dekalb (1830) md
Darthula Maria BRADFORD
(CSA, killed
Battle of Williamsburg, VA)
5) Martha Thula (1831) md
William POPE
These Wilson children married into several important Talladega families. Nathaniel's father was the Rev. Oliver WELCH, Darthula was the daughter of Gen. Jacob BRADFORD. The ESTILL's are also an old American family.
Marcus Lafayette WILSON was a Captain in 10th AL Inf, Co. E. There was a nice article about him in a late 1800's book entitled Notable Men of Alabama.
My line is William and Caroline "Carrie" (Estill) WILSON. They remained on the family land in Winterboro, AL where they raised 4 children:
1) Emma Frances (1846)md William
H. DOUGLAS
2) Martha (1848)(died as
child)
3) Walker Reynolds (1850)
md Henrietta LANDERS 16 Dec 1879
4) Bettie D. (1853) md Dick
B. RISER
Walker Reynolds WILSON was named for his parents' close friend Walker REYNOLDS, a well known citizen of Talladega. Henrietta was the daughter of James Butler Madison LANDERS and Melvina RUSSELL. Walker and Henrietta (Landers) WILSON left farming and became merchants in Talladega in 1880. At some point after 1880, they went to Texas, with son Robert being born in Marshall,TX. They were still there in Nov 1889 according to an article in the Talladega, AL newspaper mentioning "Mrs. Walker Wilson visiting from Texas". They had only 2 surviving children:
1) Roxie Estelle (1885) md
T.L. WILLIAMS
2) Robert Reynolds (1886)
md Florence HARPER
Unfortunately, Henrietta passed away ca 1890 and Walker died in 1893 leaving both children who were then under 10 years old in the care of Henrietta's sister Mary (Landers) COOK wife of the well known Richard E. COOK.
Robert Reynolds WILSON and Florence HARPER are my grandparents.
