Hello, my name is Mark Taylor and my wife Vickie, our three children and I raise AKC Reg. Standard Bull Terrier puppies that we're proud of. We are a very conservative independant Pentecostal Holiness family which believes that a person must LIVE what the bible says, not just talk the talk. We live on a 67 acre farm in the heart of Kentucky, along Nolin River, the most crooked river in the United States.(honest) We raise beef cattle and Bull Terriers which is about all that can be raised on this rock and thorn patch farm.(except sink holes) I am currently employed as a Plant Manager/Mechanical Engineering Mgr. and Vickie is a loving wife and is a full time employed homemaker. Our children are ages 15, 12, 9 and a newborn girl born on 12/17/05.
Just to inform some of you people that do not know much about Bullies,I would like to mention just a few things I have learned by experience:
1/ Most have strong "Alpha" attitudes and it takes a strong willed person willing to keep them in their proper place. If you do not take the lead, they will.
2/ They are not normally good around other pets unless you take time to TEACH them to be socialable. Failure to do so will result in major problems. My suggestion is to own only one Bully as a pet or keep them seperated when you are not present. Treat every new encounter with another animal with the assumption that they do not like each other and it will keep everyone happy.
3/ Raising Bullies are not for the faint hearted or in-experienced. Some commonly kill or eat their own young if left unattended. Hey! don't gross out, hogs,hamsters and rabbits do also.
4/ Some become very over-protective of you or your family especially if kept in the house all the time. Socialize them with people in and out of the home.
5/ Many are like little termites, if they can get it in their mouths, they will chew it. Keep toys for them to chew on, otherwise you may come home with only three legs on your table. They can easily turn firewood into matchsticks.
I do not want to discourage you from owning a Bully but if you can meet the above requirements, then here are a just a few of the rewards:
1/ They will break their necks to satisfy you. If you have not seen them do a 360 degree in mid-air, then you just haven't seen real gymnastics. They can climb like a little monkey, dig like a mole and fear nothing.
2/ They act like little 4 year old clowns and will keep you entertained.
3/ Once you own one, you will probably never be happy with another breed. They have such a personality, that they almost seem human.
4/ They are very pain tolerant so children cannot hurt them.
5/ They will adapt to most any amount of room they are confined in. They do not bark unless something real is causing it.
We currently have four adult females by the name of Heidi, Sweet Pea, Fudge Brownie and Strawberry Shortcake, two adult males by the name of Scooter and Jake.
Scooter is white with a partial brindle ear and eyebrow. He weighs about 55 lbs. He is very loveable and holds himself well.
Jake is a little smaller and more compact. He is white very calm and kids love him.
Heidi is Choppie and Sylvester's daughter from one of my litters back in Dec.1996. She is a very beautiful dog with a very sweet nature. She is solid white with a brindle ear and weighs about 38 lbs. She has several champions on both sides. She is semi-retired.
Sweet Pea is out of Heidi and Bully. She is solid white and weighs about 38 lbs as well.
Strawberry Shortcake is white with an eye patch. She is out of Sweet Pea which make her the forth generation female I have owned. She also weighs around 38 lbs.
Fudge Brownie is a black brindle out of a black brindle female that is the "pick of the litter" and Scooter is her sire. She is the most active dog I have and she weighs around 40 lbs.
We have been raising Bullies since 1994 and have enjoyed them. We have not had any so far as I know that has had any hereditary problems. While I do not try to sell my dogs as "Show" dogs, I try to invest in the best dogs I can find and many of my dogs have show potential.
I have a rather LARGE waiting list (6 months to a year long) but I will be happy to add anyone to my "Notify" list. I usally have 2-3 litters a year.
