I really enjoyed this, I am seeing doctor's now to determine if I have MS. I have weak legs and numbness in them and off balance when I walk. MY mri showed normal, so I guess they will do a spinal tap. Some days it is hard for me to walk, they are so weak and tingley. I sure hope they find out what is wrong soon. Good Luck in the Future. I enjoyed reading about your life. I have a lot in common, i think. I was diagnosed in 1986 and continued to teach music in school for 10 years. It got too hard. I try to do as much as I can but you know how hard it can be. I retired in 1996, and it was a relief, tho the decision was hard.

I can empathize with what you've gone through, having been diagnosed with MS in 1996 myself, at the 'standard' age of 28. Like you, my right side was where the attacks started. I know of Avonex. I started on Betaseron, another medication of that family. Back in February of this year. I discontinued using it in July, because a) I have secondary progressive MS; tests have proven it doesn't work on that, and b) it was doing nasty t ings to my blood. Since I'm needlephobic to begin with, I'd be lying if I said I'm sorry to be off it! My website listed, MSInformation, is a support site for those of us living with MS and our friends and family. I have a discussion board there as well. I haven't had a lot of activity there, but I'd be glad if you joined it.

Our 29 year old daughter was diagnosed in Joplin with MS. We went to Mayo Clinic and after all the testing they told us she has no signs of MS yet. I have had MS for 2 1/2 years It came as a pre 40th birthday gift. I have been taking avonex for about 2 years. Thank you, I want to let you know while most people are now Diagnosed in there 30s.I had symptoms misdiagnosed for years, I believe with what I know now I have had MS since I was a teen! I finally was dg. in 93 at the age of 53! So dont always asume no one is effect d at a later time in life it is just that tecnology is finally getting better at it. I enjoyed looking at your site which I got from Marli's site. My in-laws live at the Fairfield Glades - not far from you. My husband, kids (9 & 4) go every summer to play golf and swim. After 3 years of mysterious symptoms, arrogant and ill-informed doctors, and extreme feelings of hope/despair, something strange happened yesterday. I had been referred to a doctor at a walk-in clinic by the local E.R. for follow-up of diabetes-related pr blems. Within minutes, as a result of routine questions which he asked, he stated that he wanted to run tests for MS. This was "out of the blue". He said that he thought I might have it. Until that moment, I'd felt convinced that I had PD. He will be doing a spinal tap on me in the very near future. (I had an MRI 18 months ago that showed no lesions, and I was told then that--without lesions-- there was NO WAY that I could have MS.) I've loved being alive; I've appreciated my good lie. However, lately everything (especially me) seems heavy and, sporadically, depressing. Your site is very nice. Thank you.

Your web page was very good. I am not sure if I have MS. I am still in the testing stage. My MRI of brain was normal. I go for a muscle response test next week. I have numbness & tingling,poor cordination, tremors, muscle weekness, tired all the time, severe pain on my hips and back. Spasms and sometimes twitching of my left eye with blurriness. I have been told I have RA/Lupus by one doc, one doc says no to lupus but yes to arthritis. One doc says some muscle disease just don't know which one. Ruling out different things. MS is not really talked about with the doctors here. I am on TN care and can't find a good neu.doc. I had a very bad spell 10 yrs. ago and t e last 3 yrs. have been ruff. I am feeling much better this week. Scary to feel almost normal after such a long time. I go to pain management spec. and have received wonderfull help from them. Med's are working. Just got off predizone because I had b en on it for along time. I have also taken Methotrexate, but it effected my liver. I have had seizures in the past that doc. couldn.t explain. I pray that I get answers soon. Do my symptoms seem like MS to you? The problem is I am turning 50 in Feb. nd the doc thinks I am to old. However this started over a 10 yr period or longer. I am going through the diagnostic process now. I am 32 and would love to have a baby but am afraid that if I do have MS it will be hard to care for a child. My symptoms started with vision problems too. I also was tested for a tumor and left with no expla ation for the vision loss or the trigeminal neuralgia i suffer from.,It is so frustrating. I have been diagnosed with ms for 14 1/2 years. I walk with a cane. I've experienced just about every symptom ms has and more. I also have scleroderma, fibromyalgia, post polio syndrome, IGA deficiency and numerous autoimmune diseases. I do not dwell n my diseases all the time, but I cannot avoid them altogether, for they are a part of me. As a minister in our church sings, I take stumbling blocks and make them stepping stones. I'm an Apostolic Christian and my dear husband is a minister. We don't ave any children. I have the greatest support that anyone could ever ask for. I am truly blessed! I'm currently attending Weight Watchers and am doing great. I'm trying to get my body back in shape, for my health's sake.

My only child/son started college this past Aug. so I too have lots of free time on my hands. I was divorced for 13 before remarrying in 1995. So my son and I were closer than most. So I need to do something as you have done or something to occupy my time. I often feel lost without him around. Atleast he is only 45 miles away. But still not home each night!! A big difference. I understand a little of what you are living with I have been about five years thinking I was going crazy. The doctors have come up with everything from Chronic Fatigue to enviromental illness!!! I am still waiting for them to figure it out, but they have said that its a high probablity that I have MS. But no one wants to comfirm this. Any way I guess its not much point knowing or not I will just have to learn to live with it seeing that there is really no treatment and except for one sided numbness, fatigue and occassional lancing pains everything is okay. I just received an e-mail from my cyber-mom who has been diagnosed with MS. She has just noticed that her eyesight is going for longer periods of time and today she was completely blind in her left eye. She is very afraid of losing her eyesight altogeth r, and she has two little girls, ages 4 and 1. I am very upset over this, but I realize that there is little I, as a single person, can do except contribute to the research and pray to God. I was just wondering how you have gone through it, and what els I can do as a fellow human being to help. You seem to have a grip on life, and are in high spirits considering this terrible disease.

My MS was diagnosed at the outset and is getting progressively worse. Walking is a problem, but the Lord gives me the strength to continue because in His Word, He says,"I am with you always even unto the end of the world" (Matthew 28:20) Hang in there, because if you know the Lord, there is another promise in His Word: "Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved" (Romans 10:13)

i really enjoyed my visit...thanks for stopping by mine...i get alot of responses from people who know someone with MS...but it was a welcomed change to hear from someone who has it...i read that you recently had to give p your job...that is my biggest fear....being my only means of support....i don't know what i'd do if i couldn't work anymore...i'm far from retirement...guess i have to go on a hunt for that rich husband...it gets hard sometimes when you don't want to wo ry about things that could happened or might not happen, because of the stress...but then again, you can't wait til something does happen because, then, you're not in control to do anything about it...any way, enough bending of your ear...i'll be sure to heck back again soon...take care!
