Dies Tuesday



Leon O Foster, 49, an Oak Ridge businessman who has three brothers and sisters living in Clinton, died enroute to Oak Ridge Hospital Tuesday night following a long illness. He lived in Oak Ridge at 52 New York Ave.

Foster was the brother of Mrs James E Stair, wife of the manager of Radio WYSH and former Clinton mayor; Mrs Boyd (Jean) Dishman of Woodmont Circle and Ralph Foster of Rogers Street.

For many years, Foster was in the furniture business with his father, the late Walter T Foster, and later operated a used furniture store in Oak Ridge. He also worked in sheetmetal. The father later was part owner of Foster & Blazer Furniture Co at Solway, which later became Blazer Furniture Co.

Foster came from Georgia with his family in 1943 and settled in Clinton.

He also leaves his mother, Mrs Ruby Foster of Oak Ridge; two other sisters, Mrs John Blazer, wife of the furniture store owner; Mrs Carolyn Overton of Knoxville; another brother, Travis Foster of Oak Ridge; two children and six grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 pm Friday at North Clinton Baptist Church and burial will be in Tennessee Valley Memory Gardens at Claxton. The family will receive friends Tuesday night at Martin Funeral Home in Oak Ridge.
