HOOKUP/HARDWARE PROBLEMS
Ewenique Needles carries repair manuels for the poem. I know because I
bought one two years ago when I couldn't find anyone to repair my poem.
It gives parts lists and shows every part of this litte machine. And with this my husband has always been able to fix mine for me. And now it is always in great shape. It is a large manuel and very helpful. No affliation, just a very satisfied customer!

I got my EU the beginning of Feb. Took 5 weeks to get it going. Any tech. that was here and also the one from Singer (called) everyone wanted to put something new in my P C. The system, Pent.11 is only a little over a year old. One guy even wanted to put a new mother board in to the tune of $250.00. Yeah right.........
Anyway found a girl who has been around computers for years, knows DOS, and after explaining my problem over the phone, knew what had to be done. Start the EU program in Dos. Had a message come up " no value set for file in Config.Sys. Please edit the file in config.sys. and set line FILES=40. Save config.sys.file then reboot computer and type EU "
Well, it worked.......I had the same trouble you are having, got as far as clicking open and then the error message. It is mainly a communication problem between the EU and Win95. Have been using it since and no trouble. The EU is now on com.port l, mouse on #2, and modem on #3. Would not work with modem on any other port.
Hope it works for you, let me know....

Just so others will have the access to information, the PCI configuration on the Pentium 2 system, had to be changed from auto to manual. Such a little thing to make such a
big problem!!

How to Replace a Faulty InterfaceCable
by Sheree McKee
Problem:
After two years of happily using my Huskygram, the red light on my embroidery machine would not stay consistently lit, therefore I could not use the SingerEU software. Sometimes it would stay lit during digitizing, then all of a sudden go black, causing my software to quit working in the middle of a project.
Test:
First I took my DC 12 volt transformer to two local Radio Shacks to have it tested, and it was fine. Therefore, I ruled out a power connection problem.
Temporary Fix:
For several months, all I had to do was wiggle and jiggle the gray interface cord to get the red light to say in the " on " position. Eventually, it quit working all together. The six foot long interface cable that came with my Huskygram (POEM or Singer EU) has a round Mac 8 pin min din plug attachment for the embroidery machine, and apparently the manufacturer (Aisin) added on a rectangular DB9 female plug to connect with the Com 1 port of my computer
Purchase:
In the Mac section of Computer City, I purchased a $8.99 Belkin (F2V088-10 foot-Gold-G18) Apple compatible Internet/Modem cable. It contained a 8 Pin Min Din male on one end and the other end contained a DB25 Male. The DB25 Male end needed to be converted to a DB9 Female. At CompUSA, I purchased a $9.99 Belkin (F2L089-A05) Serial gender adapter, DB25 Female/DB9 Female to make the new interface cable match the original non-functioning one.
Extra Benefits:
My new interface cable is ten feet long, instead of six feet, allowing me to move my embroidery machine around my sewing room. This new interface cord saved me about $30-$40 from the quoted price of $50-%60 by a local Singer EU Dealer.
Thanks:
Thanks to Cheryl Brobst who clued me into this solution by answering my request in the Sewing World Commons-Machine Embroidery topic(http://www.sewingworld.com)
