Olive Grace Simpson was born the first of five daughters of
Frank J Simpson and his wife Lottie Mae (Piatt) Simpson. She was born in Cooperstown, North Dakota. When she was about 20 years old the family moved west to Hood River, Oregon. Olive wrote a day by day diary of the trip which took approximately three months in what she called an "original house car". Some relatives accompanied them and they made many stops on the way visiting other relatives, enjoying the trip and scenery, and according to her diary many stops for ice cream. On arriving in Hood River, Oregon her father Frank J Simpson became a member of the Crag Rats. The Crag Rats then and today are Mountain Search and Rescue Operations. Picture is of Frank J Simpson
