Knitted Baby Boot

If you like my adult and child knitted boot slippers, you'll love my baby version. This size is for a newborn right out of the hospital or a preemie.

Materials:
Size # 4 needles
Baby Yarn

Cast on 30 sts and work 8 rows of garter st. (knit each row).

Row 9: Knit 12 sts, k2 tog; k 2, slip 1 st, k1, pass slip st over, k 12.

Row 10: Purl 11 sts, p2 tog; k 2, slip 1 st, p1, pass slip st over, p 11.

Row 11: Knit 10 sts, k2 tog; k 2, slip 1 st, k1, pass slip st over, k 10.

Row 12: Purl 9 sts, p2 tog; k 2, slip 1 st, p1, pass slip st over, p 9.

Row 11: Knit 8 sts, k2 tog; k 2, slip 1 st, k1, pass slip st over, k 8.

Row 12: Purl 7 sts, p2 tog; k 2, slip 1 st, p1, pass slip st over, p 7.

Then knit 6 rows of garter sts.

Bind off loosely in knit and leave a 12" tail to sew seams of back and sole.

If you need the boot to be longer just increase the cast on number in multiples of 2 and decrease as shown above until the desired width for the ankle. Then do rows of knit for the cuff.
