This is a great pattern for a beginning crocheter or for a more experienced
crocheter that wants to create a quick pair of slippers. This pattern makes
a slipper about 7" long. The photo shows the knitted pair but the crocheted
pair look very similar

Materials:
Worsted Weight Yarn
Size E crochet hook
Chain 43 sts.
Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and each ch across. Ch 1 and turn.
Row 2 - 23: Sc across row. Ch 1, turn.
Row 25: Sl st in next 9 sts, sc in next 24 sts. Ch 1, turn leaving remaining 9 sts unworked.
Row 26 - 41: Sc across row. Ch 1, turn.
On last row do not end with a ch 1. Fasten off leaving a 16" tail.
Fold piece in half.
Take final row sts and run the tail through these sts. Gather tight and tie to keep from coming undone. Then use a yarn needle and the tail to sew the top seam. If you want to have a roll down top then continue the seam for a cuff. Fasten off. Take the beginning tail and use with the yarn needle to sew the back seam. Fasten off. Weave in ends. Turn right side out and roll or fold down the top.
For a moccasin slipper do as shown above but do not sew seam that creates the cuff. Turn right side out, fold down flap and use attach yarn like tassels to make the fringe.
