Materials:
Few yards of worsted weight crochet cotton in at least 2 colors
I used a variegated yarn for the main color and a solid for contrast
G hook
Ch 4.
Row 1: 4 dc in 4th ch from hook. Ch2 and turn. (Ch 3 of ch 4 counts as 1 dc.)
Row 2: 2 hdc in 1st dc, 1 hdc in each of next 3 dc, 2 hdc in top of ch 4. Ch 3 and turn.
Row 3: 2 dc in 1st hdc, dc in each of next 5 hdc, 2 dc in top of previous ch 3. Ch 1 and turn.
Row 4: Sc in each dc across. Ch 1 and turn. (Do not sc in top of ch 3)
Row 5 - 8: Sc in each sc across. Ch 1 and turn. (At end of Row 8, do ch 2 instead)
Row 9: hdc next 2 sc together, hdc across to last 2 sts, hdc last 2 sts tog. Ch 2 and turn.
Row 10: Hdc next 2 sts tog, hdc across to last 2 sts, hdc last 2 sts tog. Ch 2 and turn.
Row 11: Sc last 3 sts tog. Fasten off and weave in ends.
Bow: Ch 30 and fasten off. Tie if a bow to top of coaster and trim ends.
For a different look alternate different colors of yarn for different rows - Example: do sc rows in a contrasting color.
