Ginger's Slippers

Ginger Badger designed this pattern and the variations of this pattern and gave me permission to post it her for others to use. Linda Bohrn

Materials Needed:

2 3ozs. Skeins of Red Heart Worsted Weight Yarn
1 skein (mc) and 1 skein (cc)
or 2 skeins of same color
Hooks: J or K for making slipper I or J for cuff

Takes about 30 minutes for each slipper. Using 2 strands held together for a thicker slipper. Leave about a 12" tail at beginning and ending for sewing. Chain 3 counts as first dc in each row.

Ch 28

Row 1: Dc in 4th chain from hook, and in each ch across, ch3 turn. (26 dc)

Row 2: Dc in each of the next 7 dc, fpdc around next dc, dc in each of the next 8 dc, fpdc around next dc, dc in each of the next 7 dc and in top of ch3, ch3 turn.

Row 3: Dc in each of the next 7 dc, bpdc around next st, dc in each of the next 8 dc, bpdc around next st, dc in each of the next 7 dc and in top of ch3, ch 3 turn.

Row 4-7: Repeat row 2-3 at end of row 7 ch 1 turn.

Row 8: SC in each of the next 3 dc, sc dec over next 2 dc, sc in each of the next 3 dc, fpdc around next st, sc in each of the next 3 dc, sc dec over next 2 dc, sc in each of the next 3 dc, fpdc around next st, sc in each of the 3 dc, sc dec over next 2 dc, sc in each of the next 3 dc, sc dec over next 2 dc, sc in each of the next 3 dc, join with sl st in 1st ch, ch 3, do not turn. (23st).

Rnd 9: Start toe ribbing. (1 fpdc around next sc, 1 dc in next sc) around, join with sl st in top of ch3, ch3 turn.

Rnd 10: (dc in next dc, bpdc around next st) around, join with sl st in top of ch3, ch3 turn.

Rnd 11: ( fpdc around next sc, dc in next dc) around, join with sl st in top of ch3, ch3 turn.

Rnd 12: Repeat rnd 10.

Rnd 13 : For a large size slipper only. Repeat rnd 11.

Rnd 13 small (Rnd 14 large): (fpdc/dc dec over next 2 st.) around, join with sl st in top of ch3, ch2 do not turn

Rnd 14: (15) hdc dec over next 2 st) around, join with sl st, Fasten off leaving a long tail to close toe. Weave end of yarn thru hdc and pull tight. Weave end in. Sew up heel and weave in ends.

Repeat for second slipper.

You can leave the slipper as they are or you can add a cuff.

For making cuff, if you used a size J hook you need a size I for cuff, if you used a K you need a J for cuff





Cuff 1: Using 2 strand together, with right side facing you join yarn with sl st, at center back, ch 1 reverse sc around, join with sl st. Fasten off, weave in ends. Report on second slipper.

Cuff 2: Rnd 1: Using 1 or 2 strand together, with right side facing you join yarn with sl st, at center back, ch 1, sc around . Join with sl st in 1st sc. (34 sc). Ch 3 do not turn

Rnd 2: 1 dc in each sc around, join with sl st in top of ch3, ch3, do not turn

Rnd 3- 4: (1 fpdc in next dc, 1 dc in next dc) around, ch3 do not turn. At the end of rnd 4 fasten off. Weave yarn tail in. Repeat on second slipper

Cuff 3: Rnd 1: Using 1 strand of yarn. With right side facing you join yarn with sl st, at center back, ch 1, sc around . Join with sl st in 1st sc. (34 sc). Ch 10 turn working in back of ch, sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each ch, sc in same st as joining, sc in next sc on rnd 1. turn

Row 3: Working in back loops, Sk next 2 sc, sc in each of the next 9 sc, ch 1 turn

Row 4: Working in back loops, sc in each of the next 9 sc,1 sc in each of the next 2 sc on row 1, turn

Row 5 - 32: Repeat rnds 3 - 4 until all sc are used on rnd 1. You should end with a row 3. Ch 1 turn.

Joining cuff together: Matching beginning and end of cuff rows sl st in back loops of next 9 st. Fasten off. Weave yarn tail in. You can leave the cuff up or you can turn it down. Repeat on second slipper
