Holiday Note Holder

Materials:

4-ply yarn(red, green, blue, and white)

Crochet Hooks E and F

Pencil and notepad

Back: Crochet the BASIC CIRCLE with green.

Front:

Rnds 1-4: With red, repeat rnds 1-4 of BASIC CIRCLE. Rnd 5: Ch 1, sc in first 3 sts, 2 sc in next st, (sc in each of next 3 sts, 2 sc in next st) around, join. Fasten off. Rnd 6: Join white with sl st in first st, ch 3, 3 dc in each of next 3 sts, 2 dc in next st, (dc in each of next 4 sts, 2 dc in next st) around, join(72). Fasten off.

Joining front and back:

With blue, repeat BASIC JOINING. Cut a star out of felt and glue to top of holder near hanging loop. Decorate the red skirt area with felt Christmas packages or holly and berries.

BASIC CIRCLE:

Rnd 1: With F hook and green yarn, ch 4, sl st in first ch to form ring, ch 3, 11 dc in ring, join with sl st in top of ch 3(12).

Rnd 2: Ch 3, dc in same st, 2 dc in each st around, join as before.(24)

Rnd 3: Ch 3, 2 dc in next st, (dc in next st, 2 dc in next st), around, join(36).

Rnd 4: Ch 3, dc in next st, 2 dc in next st, (dc in each of next 2 sts, 2 dc next st) around, join(48).

Rnd 5: Ch 3, dc in each of next 2 sts, 2 dc in next st, (dc in each of next 3 sts, 2 dc in next st) around, join(60).

Rnd 6: Ch 1, sc in first 4 sts, (2 sc in next st, sc in next 4 sts) 11 times, 12 sc in last st, join(72). Fasten off.

BASIC JOINING:

Matching first sts of rnd 6, place circles right sides together with front circle facing you. With F hook and blue yarn, working through both thicknesses, join with sl st in first st, ch 2, hdc in next 36 sts, fold front circle down, hdc in next 18 sts on back circle, ch 3, hdc in next 18 sts, join with sl st in first sc; working in remaining unworked sts on front circle, sc in each st around remaining half of front, join with sl st in next st on back circle. Fasten off. For pencil holder, sew 8 sts at center bottom of folded circle across bottom.
