This Head Start Project is for the year 2001 and on.

We are hoping to have a pair of slippers for every child in the program and siblings if possible up to age 12.
The children in the program are between ages 0 - 5 years.

These children are in families that don't get much for Christmas.
A local Angel Tree Program helps with the gifts but the children need
something to keep them warm. Most have never seen an afghan as
the parent, usually single mothers have to work and don't have time
(and sometimes patience) to crochet or knit.

What we are doing is asking for crocheted or knitted slippers(approx. 6-8" long in size) or yarn to create the slippers.

The total for the children in the program is 80.
Anything over that will be given to the siblings. I will have a number and sizes for them as the year goes on.

These slippers will be given to the children in Mid December each year.

IMPORTANT NOTE: no wool please - too many children are allergic to it.

Here is a list of what I have received each month.
Donations Received each month and the current total!

Here are some pictures of slippers made so far. This pattern is knittedand works up quickly. Just adjust the size of needles and yarn to make different sizes.

Here is a list of sites that have free slipper patterns in crochet and knit!
