As promised, here are some of the pictures of last years LPHS/EHS Christmas
Party where we gave out the stockings, stuffers, hats and scarves.
The stockings and stuffers were donated by businesses locally,
but mostly by kind people from around the country and the world.
Some of the pictures didn't turn out but here are a few that did.
December 1999
These were hats and matching scarves that were crocheted by the
inmates of the Ely State Prison for the children using donated yarn.
The man is Mr. Plunkett who takes the yarn out to the prisoners and
brings back the hats and scarves ready for the children.
The lady with him is Danette Maestas, our Family Services Coordinator
who worked with the prison in getting the hats and scarves going. We serviced
approximately 144 Head Start/Early Head Start children and
their siblings that year. The sign on the table says:
"Hats! Hats! Hats! Made for the children of Head Start
From the Ely State Prison!!! Thank You!!!"
This is one of the stockings sent and a few of the toys. The stocking
is sewn and crocheted. The bear and pig were from England. We had
a lot of other toys donated such as Teenie Beanies and other assorted
McDonald's Toys. Our local McDonald's donated regular and toddler
Lego sets for every stocking. Some local businesses donated candy and
oranges to finish off the stockings.
Some of the pictures did not turnout(may not have been a good time to try out
my new digital camera) but there were a lot of happy people that night and on
Christmas morning. I'm hoping to make happy faces again for next Christmas.
