Vol 4 Issue 1 - January/February 2003
Welcome to Linda's Crafty Chronicles. We are beginning a new year, a year of the number 5 which is a year of changes(2003=2+3=5). We can already see the changes in the world around us. Life is not the same as we remember it as a child.
I would like to thank my readers for letting me know about a link that was on my site to another persons website. It had been hacked and replaced with porn. That link has now been removed. I know the person is working on getting everything back to the way it was but it will take time and work to repair the damage done. This is one of the sad and scary signs about the world today. If anyone finds a link on my site and "it's not what it should be" please let me know the link and what page you found the link on and I will take care of it right away. My site is a family friendly site and I want it to remain a safe haven on the internet for my readers.
Another scary sign is all the service people being shipped out. To support them I have been crocheting stars in white and tying a yellow ribbon to them to represent those that are gone to serve our country at home and overseas until they return to us again. I an using an H hook with this pattern to make it just a little larger and adding a pinback or safety pin to the back of the star for people to wear.
I'd also like to remind you about my charity listed at the bottom of this page in my brother's memory. I have added my daughter Cyndy's name to it also since she was a big part of it when she was alive and was really interested in helping the babies and tiny ones. It is now Steven's Comfy Toes and Cyndy's Tiny Tootsies.
Now on to the fun. Winter is here in full force but I love the days that remind me that spring is not far away. We have some wonderful holidays that are coming up so enjoy them with your family. Make everyday a holiday. I plan on taking a time when there is no holiday for a few weeks and creating a holiday for my family. Give it a funny name and decide how we are going to celebrate it. Everyday could be a holiday if you want it to. Make up your own calendar and decide what holidays you want to invent. Some people are so depresses after the winter holidays are over that the depression hits them hard. I just use that as a time to begin getting ready for and looking forward to the next holiday. I think my next holiday is going to be Whooptydoo Day!

Handy Hints: Here is a winter cleaning hint to make the cleaning go faster and healthier. On a good warm day(if you have one) remember to open your windows for about ½ hour to air out your house. Use Clorox wipes or 1 gallon of water with 1 teaspoon of Clorox bleach. to wash off everything in your house that your family touches regularly. Some cold germs now can live longer than 24 hours and will keep your family sick all winter unless removed. If you use another brand, you may have to use more bleach as it is part water and will not have the strength of Clorox.
Have any household/Handy Hints you want to share? Email me with the hints and you will see them in the next issues each month with your name giving you credit for the hint.

I'm making slippers, hats and ear warmers for my yahoo group "Charity Hearts". My mother and I have finished and delivered the comfortghans for my brother Steven and his wife Samantha. Steven passed away quietly 1 week later at home amongst friends and family. I have started a charity in his name. If you would like to know more go to:
