Titus 2 Birthing:A Return to the Biblical Model is a national training and certification program for childbirth educators who desire to provide a Titus 2 model ministry through their birth services. There are nine modules which are completed via correspondence. Modules are self-paced. A four-day intensive workshop is required following completion of at least half the modules, and before provisional teaching begins.
The following is a list of requirements for certification:
1. Annual Membership in Titus 2 Birthing (annual dues of $24 subject to change).
2. Completion of training modules and study of accompanying texts. Each module question sheet contains the recommended reading for the covered topics. List may also include various visual aids. Modules may be returned via email or regular mail.
3. High school diploma or equivalent.
4. Read and critique The Christian Woman's Guide to Childbirth by Debra Evans and The Joy of Natural Childbirth by Helen Wessel.
5. Complete any 2 of the following:
a. Training as a childbirth educator or midwife
b. Attend a childbirth education series (not as an expectant parent) or equivalent and submit a review.
c. Attend a LaLeche series of 4 meetings and submit a review.
d. Attend a VBAC support group or participate in ICAN list and submit a review.
6. Submit two personal evaluations/recommendations for program admittance. One must be from your pastor.
7. Experience providing labor support for a minimum of 4 births. Provide evaluations from client.
8. Attend the intensive.
9. Provide verification of CPR certification (adult/infant/child).
10. Signed copied of Titus 2 Statement of Faith, Birth Philosophy, Code of Ethics and Mission Statement.
11. Provisional teach one class with Titus 2 materials and submit personal evaluation and student evalutions. Claases should contain 4 or more students.
To maintain certification,CCCEs must:
1. Designate classes as Titus 2 Birthing only when exclusively using Titus 2 materials.
2. Maintain a lending library for students.
3. Keep annual dues current
4. Provide a copy of the Titus 2 Birthing curriculum for each couple.
5. Submit semi-annual reports on classes taught with student evaluations.
6. Attend one birth each six months and submit a birth report and evaluation.
7. Continue your education with CEUs and new books.
8. Participate in Christian birth professional and other birth professional lists where email access exists.
