8th Grade Sports
This will be stories of Barry's 8th Grade Sports. As of this writing (8/28/98) he is trying out for the football team. Click here to see the 1998 Manchester 8th Grade Pages
September 8, 1998. Barry was named the starting quarterback and starting corner for the 8th grade team. First game is 9/10/98.
There has not been a lot to write about on this year's team. As of October 20, 1998 they are 1-6. The season is over. The team has not come together at all compared to last year, a fact that is hard to understand, they played so well last year, and then this year they can't seem to get it together. A very very dis-appointment for the team. They played so well last year they had such high hopes, but this year they never got it together.
Its on to basketball. Barry made the team, the "A" team, as a quard. The 1st game is 12/1/98.
As of February 6, 1999 the team is 9-4. The team beat Crestview Middle School by 2 points and then Southwood by 2 points, both very close games. The team lost to a Warsaw team by 3 points. The boys are playing as a team and doing well. The season is done, and the team played as well as they ever had. They didn't win the Wabash County Tourney as was hoped, but clearly they played GREAT!!

Pages top Rochester
Rochester--Manchester defeated Rochester 40-34 in 8th grade baketball here Monday as Todd Dale scored 15 points. Pat Richardson added 14 points for the Pages (6-3). The "B" team also won 35-32 as Adam Macke scored 11 points and Joel Garber had 8. Manchester was runner-up to an unbeaten NorthWood team, losing 47-41 in the championship game of the Wawasee 8th grade invitational at Syracruse Saturday. Dale had 14 points in that title game for the Pages (5-3). Matt Stracke added 11. Manchester beat Wawasee 40-26 in the 1st round as Barry Hicks had 12 points and Kyle Glass netted 8.

Pages defeat Norsemen
Todd Dale led the visiting Page's 8th grade team with 19 points as they beat the Norse 49-30. Barry Hicks had 13 points and Jediah Carandante added nine for Manchester (3-2).
